Why are certifications important?

To put it simply, certification ensures quality and safety. It proves that the product is going to do what it claims. If a product is certified, you know it’s a winner. Legally. In all aspects, really!

WFA systems have been independently tested and are Watermark approved. That means they’ve ticked all the boxes for plumbing safety, performance and legal requirements.

There are quite a few water filter products being sold around Australia that don’t have the NSF and/or WaterMark certifications. This can put both plumbers and consumers at risk.

WaterMark

WaterMark is a national certification scheme that represents the Australian standards tick of approval. They independently test and check the performance of the product and then certify that the products meet Australian safety plumbing standards.

A WaterMark certification means that the water filter has passed a number of strict tests and requirements. They test things like plumbing safety, water pressure, taste and toxins. Basically they make sure that the water filter product is safe and approved for sale, installation and use.

This certification is mandatory to comply with Australian plumbing regulations when installing a water filtration system. In fact, it is illegal to install a water filter that doesn’t have the WaterMark approval. If the product isn’t approved by WaterMark and any problems occur down the track, there can be serious insurance implications.
